My life shifted in an instant, and I had to learn to adapt with all the changes. Along the way, I learned a valuable lesson that helped me focus in on my priorities.
Sitting on the ground with the smell of my spilled coffee still in the air, something seemed wrong. When my children came into the kitchen and I realized part of my vision was gone, I told them to call my brother.
When I was only 40 years old, I had a stroke. At first, it took me a while to accept, because I thought that I was way too young to experience that. Just the day before, I saw my doctor, and though he suggested I see a cardiologist, I simply chalked everything up to being stressed and kept going. After all, life was busier than ever.
After earning my bachelor’s degree a few years earlier, and my REALTOR® license after that, life was speeding up. I was also a single mother and had been taking on more positions in local community organizations. The big event for a Children’s Hospital that I had been fundraising for was only a week away. Just two weeks earlier, my father was diagnosed with cancer.
There were too many spinning plates. After it all, I found out I was lucky to be alive. All but 1% of those who experience an event in the same part of the brain as I did, either die, or are left quadriplegic for the rest of their lives. Of course, I was not back to 100% right away. After my initial treatment, there was about a yearlong recovery that made me reexamine my priorities.
My father and I journeyed together for a while before he passed. Often, he would join me on my appointments after he finished his own in a different part of the hospital. Though I miss him, I am glad we had that time together, and I am very thankful for my mother, who was our rock during that time. My brother has also been a huge part of my life and my best friend – I could not imagine my life without him.
As a child, my father taught me there was nothing I could not do. I remember being a teenager learning how to clean spark plugs. I took that unstoppable mindset with me and chased adventure in life. What I did not realize until years later was that while I could in fact do anything, I could not do everything.
During recovery, I asked for help. I’m lucky to have a supportive family. My children were phenomenal, and their father has always been supportive. During that year, I cut down on commitments and devoted myself to the two things that matter most to me: my family and real estate. I am most proud of my children and the wonderful people they have grown into. My daughter, Erica, joined my team in 2022 as a licensed REALTOR®, and I’m excited to see what we will accomplish together.
I have lived in Ohio nearly my entire life, and I chose to raise my family in this community. Over the years, I have done many things—I owned a restaurant, raised four children (and two step children), bred and showed prize-winning alpaca stock around the country, lived on a farm, and a whole lot more. Each thing I have done has taught me something important. I am not afraid of trying new things and always have my hand in something. I am just intentional in all I do.
I have been a licensed REALTOR® since 2003. Whenever I am not working, I enjoy boating with friends and trying new restaurants. My favorite part of being a REALTOR® is building relationships with my clients while helping them achieve their dreams.
Wherever you are on your real estate journey, I am here to listen. Homes and properties are more than the structures they are made of – each one offers a different lifestyle. I pay attention to the details and what matters most to you. Matching my clients with the communities that best fit their needs and activities is one of the things I excel at.
Throughout my many years as a REALTOR®, I have learned how to adapt, pivot and come up with creative solutions to help my clients reach their goals. Markets rise and fall, but I will always be here helping my clients make the best decisions possible in whatever circumstances we face. Working with a team of experts, I offer my clients comprehensive support throughout the process. I have extensive experience in investment, residential and farm real estate transactions. Once the papers are signed and the sale is closed, I will continue to support your success as your lifelong REALTOR®.
